Auditory Processing


In order to notify a school that your child is struggling and request services, the first thing you must do is provide written notice. This can be addressed to the principal of the school or to the special education director of your district. If your district is LAUSD, send notice to the principal of your child’s school of attendance.



When a child is struggling in school, a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation conducted early on with periodic reevaluations can drastically change their trajectory and maximize their chances for academic success.



Reading, Writing, ‘Rithmetic— the three “R”s have been around for centuries! But research has found that the ability to read is an underlying skill for the other two “R”s. So what underlies reading? Many skills. However, two additional “R”s, rhythm and rhyme, are at the forefront.



All of us with children are well versed in the challenges of helping our little ones navigate through episodes of frustration or unusual behavior. Tantrums or unexpected actions most always have a cause – and parents who work down the typical checklist of tiredness, hunger, sickness, need of attention, boredom or something similar can usually isolate the culprit that is leading to their behavior.
