Maria Fagan Hassani, MA, ET/P is an Educational Therapist in private practice, in Los Angeles and serves on the board of the Association of Educational Therapists (AET) as Co-Chair of the Membership Committee. She began her career after receiving her multiple subject credentialed from Sonoma State University. She has worked in classroom settings and on the sets of television, film and theatre as studio teacher. This was where she first discovered her passion to help struggling learners and their families crack the educational code and experience academic achievement, without self-judgment or unnecessary frustration.
Since then, she has worked in a variety of learning environments and grade levels over the past 27 years, from rigorous private schools to juvenile court schools, so she easily adapts to meet the needs of students in both public and private settings across grade levels. Now in her 14th year as an Educational Therapist, Maria specializes the support and remediation of reading, writing, math, executive function and time management skills for children, adolescents and adults. Recently, Maria has created Parent Circles which meet monthly and are designed to be a safe place for parents to connect with other families of children who struggle with the learning process.
She earned a Masters in Special Education from St. Xavier University in Chicago, as well as an Education Specialists Instruction Credential, Level II. Maria has given presentations on differentiated instruction and positive behavior support. A creative person at heart, Maria is also an accomplished actress. She lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband Mehrdad.
