Dr. Karvounides is a clinical psychologist who has been practicing for 15 years, working with diverse patients who are coping with adjustment to chronic illness-particularly chronic pain and somatization disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma as well as difficulties faced in peer and family relationships.
Her expertise comes through years of work at multiple academic medical centers in the country, including her role as pediatric psychologist for 8 years in the pediatric headache and migraine program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has also worked with the humanitarian organization, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders and is passionate about supporting and improving the health of citizens globally.
Her engagement in sessions involves a joint understanding and agreement of the challenges in need, combined with recommendations and a treatment approach that is evidence-based. Interventions include but are not limited to CBT, ACT, ERP, PE and mindfulness based interventions. She provides the best care possible through an empathic environment that is sensitive to all areas of difference and a trusted partnership that is necessary for positive change.
